“Whilst appreciating the materials used (largely fluorescent light tubes - bespoke of course) are likely expensive, time consuming to make and on a large scale, I was still left wanting more. There are four rooms with three main themes: given the space MAAT provides as a ‘canvas’ for these displays, I would have liked to see more examples of them. The main ‘sunken’ area housed the large statement piece. Although this was impressive in scale, I couldn’t readily make a specific form from it (maybe that’s what it wanted to do to you?), which seemed to leave me non-plussed.
